I am focused on writing great music and having a great time.
The first iPod I saw was from a family friend, who had the one with the four buttons on top of the scroll wheel. I remember being like, "How in the hell do they fit the music in there?” It was as thick as a brick, but it was the coolest thing I had ever seen. I got one several years later, and likely infected the family computer with malware from downloading as many songs as possible. That was a big inflection point for me with music, and I soon found myself with a pair of headphones on everywhere I went.
A lot of the first bands that I was introduced to came from skateboard and snowboard movies, as shredding the absolute gnar was all that I cared about at the time. They always had the best soundtracks, and I would check the credits to find the songs. I think my favorite soundtrack came from the movie The Shaun White Album. It had bands like Electric Light Orchestra, Foreigner, and Manfred Mann’s Earth Band. I remember listening to "Juke Box Hero" about a thousand times, which contributed to my artist name.
I go in waves with listening to different genres, but I have always gravitated towards songs that tell great stories in a unique way. My favorite band of all time is Dire Straits, as I think they do this better than anyone. I have never listened to a Dire Straits song and thought, “Yeah, I’ve heard a similar song from XYZ other band.” They’re just so original. Songs like "Romeo and Juliet" and "Wild West End" are unmatched for driving at night. Mark Knopfler’s guitar playing and tone is also just ridiculous. Rock and country tend to be what I am listening to most often, and some of my other most-streamed artists include Alan Jackson, Kenny Chesney, Eric Church, and George Strait.
The songs that I have been writing are guaranteed fresh, and intended for a great time. I have put a lot of effort into making everything that I am working on as high quality as possible, including the artwork and merchandise, so that you can flex your Juke Box Luke drip on your unsuspecting friends and neighbors. I feel lucky to be able to work on and release all of this. I hope that it can entertain and add to people’s lives in the same way that my favorite artists have added to mine.
I will be steadily coming out with a few more singles, followed by an EP.
Thank you for coming along for the ride!
